Psychoanalysis Therapy

Opening the Doors Psychotherapy

What Is Psychoanalytic Therapy?

Psychoanalysis therapy is intensive talk therapy that is sometimes needed to make deep and lasting changes, especially when shorter treatments haven’t worked well enough. Often challenges we are experiencing and unable to tackle are the result of our assumptions, beliefs, unconscious conflicts, personality, or patterns of interacting that are deep-seated. We then repeat what we have not repaired.

Perhaps you’re having trouble in work situations, or trouble with “repetitive patterns of disappointment in personal relationships, or not getting along with your boss or co-workers,” perhaps you feel disconnected from friends or colleagues,” or perhaps you continue to find yourself in toxic or narcissistic relationships or want to work on the relationship to yourself. Other issues like “personal losses and transitions that are overwhelming” or frustrating patterns of behavior that impact your life are the types of issues we can work on together. These are just some examples of times when psychoanalysis therapy is rewarding.

An important part of our work will be to understand yourself more deeply, including self-beliefs, a better understanding of your unconscious and your “conflicts,” as well as more clarity about your personality and patterns of interacting in order to have more lasting and powerful transformation in your life.

What Issues Can Psychoanalysis Addresses?

Psychoanalytic therapy is a treatment approach that can target a wide range of negative issues that you experience throughout your daily living. As it brings about a new perspective as you work through it, it is often a chosen approach for many. Through the use of psychoanalysis therapy, we can address problems such as:

  • Depression
  • Personal or Professional Relationship Problems
  • Grief and Loss
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Phobias

Working together we can tackle these issues, and many others, together to reconstruct your perspective and allow you to work through your challenges.

How Psychoanalysis Therapy Can Help You

I will help you to uncover your more authentic self so that you may regain authorship over your life. We can’t change the past but we can work together to better understand how the environment of the past can influence the present and help you to resolve your current challenges.

I have often combined other tools and resources, along with psychoanalysis therapy to customize your therapeutic journey if applicable or requested. For example, often times I will combine the treatment approach of EDMR with psychoanalytic therapy. EMDR is an approach that targets unprocessed memories that hold negative emotions and beliefs about ourselves which significantly impact our everyday interactions. The EDMR treatment approach focuses on healing any negative experiences so that a person no longer relives those negative experiences from the past. Through the use of EDMR in addition to psychoanalysis therapy, we can address issues such as PTSD, self-esteem, and even parenting as we get to the root of your concerns.
